Swiss airline service provider Swissport has been hit by a ransomware attack. Due to the ransomware, some of the company’s systems have been down since Thursday, Swissport confirms after reporting by the Swiss newspaper Blick. There were no problems at Schiphol, where the company arranges baggage handling for various airlines, among other things.
Swissport states that the attack was discovered quickly and was therefore limited to a few servers. These made work more difficult for the company at the airport in Zurich, among other things, and delays arose, Blick writes.
At Schiphol, Swissport says it can work around the restrictions. There are therefore no delays caused by the hack. The company says it is now working again to restore the affected systems.
