A total of 4,520 new cases of coronavirus were reported to the National Institute for Public Health RIVM 24 hours a day until Saturday morning.
This is a decrease of 1,054, or 22%, from Friday’s total. In the last 7 days, an average of 5,794 cases per day were reported to RIVM, a 21% reduction from a week ago.
However, this number does not include all tests performed at commercial test centers. It’s also unclear if there are few tests done for Thursday’s Ascension Holiday. This may explain the sharp decline.
Fewer people are being treated in hospitals and intensive care units. Currently, a total of 2,183 people are hospitalized for coronavirus, of which 710 are in the IC ward.
The government said hospitalizations would need to be reduced by 20% by Monday for the relaxation of the coronavirus regulations introduced last week to take effect.
All numbers are on the government’s coronavirus dashboard.
