Record attendance at sold-out 7th ImpactFest

2,000 impact makers from 42 countries around the world gathered at the Fokker Terminal in The Hague on Tuesday for the 7th edition of ImpactFest. As a result, the focus on innovative and sustainable entrepreneurship has proven to be higher than ever. Never before have so many visitors come to present solutions, pitch to investors, exchange experiences and gain knowledge.

It was a diverse program involving major organizations. A variety of speakers appeared on the main stage, including Geertje Zeegers of Too Good to Go, Carol Gribnau of Stichting DOEN, Rowan Barnett of Google, Geert van de Veer of Caring Farmers, and Berend Potjer, Lieutenant Governor of South Holland. Several impact investors also pitched on stage, including the Draper Richard Kaplan Foundation, Business Angels Netwerken Nederland and 4impact. In addition, the program consisted of meetups and roundtables organized by Patagonia, Oxfam Noviv, Rabobank and others.

Influencing companies worth $2.3 billion globally

Dealroom has released the report “Impact Startups 2022” with ImpactCity. This report provides insights on investment and employment in the impact sector. The report shows that influential companies around the world are now worth over $2.3 billion. The number of investments in influential companies continues to grow. In 2022, it will already exceed the amount in calendar year 2020, although not as much as in record year 2021. South Holland has the highest concentration of employment. In influential start-ups compared to other Dutch states.

3 startups to watch

At the opening of ImpactFest, the winners of The Hague Innovators Challenge were announced. This challenge will stimulate startups and scale-ups that solve social issues. Together with previous edition winners such as Naïf Care, Seepje and North Sea Farmers, The Hague Innovators is now an established challenge in The Hague. The 2022 winners are Weco (power generation using ocean waves), Beesage (data-driven beekeeping) and Reprex (reliable big data).

Fierce battle between startups in the boxing ring

ImpactFest concluded with the European Finals of the Get in The Ring Impact Competition. Set up by Unknown Group and ImpactCity, the competition had six national finals, of which 20 winners qualified for the European final in The Hague.

From these 20 startups, 4 startups were selected yesterday to compete against each other in the Grand Finals at ImpactFest. At a packed Fokker Terminal, his four finalists Sibö, CyanoCapture, CELLUGY and Aquacycl verbally fought each other in his ring for real boxing. After a hard fought battle, CyanoCapture and Aquacycl emerged as his 2022 winners.
