Crisis management for asylum seekers organized by one of the Netherlands’ 25 safety committees costs on average twice as much as regular accommodation provided by the refugee settlement agency COA, Nieuwsuur said Friday. reported in the afternoon.

Safe zone rates range from €130 to €175 per person per night, but the COA estimates the average cost at just under €77.

The safety commission says that emergency accommodation is often put together from scratch at sports halls, ferries and offices, which is why prices are so high.

The price also includes three meals a day and security, often organized by local businesses. Until 2020, the security board had a cap of €100 per person he could pass on to the COA, but the cap has been abolished.

Currently, 30,000 asylum seekers and refugees with residence permits live in one of the 81 official COA centers. Another 15,000 live in emergency accommodation organized by his COA, and 7,000 are in the Safety Commission’s Crisis Management Center.
