Violinist André Rieu will tour abroad again in the autumn. The 71-year-old artist is expected to play with his orchestra in October and November in Chile, Uruguay, Israel, Austria and Germany, among others. He announced this today with a cheerful video on Instagram.
The first performances in the Netherlands that Rieu has given since the corona lockdown are in mid-December in Maastricht and at the beginning of January in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. There are currently a handful of performances for which ticket sales have started today. If there is a lot of enthusiasm, extra concerts may be added, his manager said on Friday.
When the corona crisis broke out in March 2020, the Limburg violinist was working on his long-awaited American tour. This will overtake Rieu in April 2022, with a good series of performances in the United Kingdom and Ireland after that.
In July 2022, the artist can be found at the Vrijthof all month long, where he will return after three years for his traditional series of summer concerts. Many fans already bought tickets for the 2020 series in the fall of 2019, which had to be cancelled. This year’s series has also been cancelled; his crew had to make the decision a few weeks ago and was not sure what was possible corona technically in the summer.
There are still a few tickets available for this 2022 summer series on the Vrijthof. Rieu is currently working with his orchestra on a new CD, Happy Together. It should be released later this year.
