Patrick Roest opts for a new chapter in his skating career and exchanges Jumbo-Visma for Skating Team Reggeborgh. The 26-year-old all-rounder signed a two-year contract with the team of trainer Gerard van Velde.
At the last World Allround Championship, Roest already announced that he was considering a transfer to Reggeborgh. The arrival of Roest means that Reggeborgh, the team of, among others, Kjeld Nuis, will also focus on all-round in addition to sprinting. Coach Robin Derks has also been signed by Reggeborgh for this.
“I had seven beautiful and successful years with my Jumbo-Visma team, but after the Olympics I got the feeling that I was ready for a new environment,” Roest said in a press release. “With a good all-round team and a new approach, I hope to take another step in the coming years and win great prizes together.”
Successful years with Orie
For the past seven years, Roest drove for Jumbo-Visma, which was still called Lotto-Jumbo seven years ago. Roest achieved great successes under the wings of coach Jac Orie.
