On a sunny evening in the Groenekanse garden of the Welgelegen estate, Rotaryclub De Bilt – Bilthoven handed over a check for €6,500 to Sonne Copijn, director of the Bee Foundation and beekeeper on a sunny evening.
Sonne explained in great detail to the club members why bees are indispensable in our ecosystem and why she is therefore so happy with this contribution. Many bees are starving today, so this contribution will be spent on building a new bee oasis.
A bee oasis is a food field for bees with perennial, native, poison-free flowers and plants in the herb layer, shrub layer and tree layer, creating an ecological bee structure. Sonne Copijn then took the club to the place where this oasis for the bees will be made concrete and where the club members will roll up their sleeves in November to create this oasis. The amount will not only contribute to a better living environment for the bees, but ultimately also to a better living environment for all of us.
