Schiphol is counting on crowds again and continues to deploy extra staff

Schiphol also expects the necessary crowds this weekend. The number of passengers is comparable to the number of travelers during the May holiday. The airport will therefore continue to take measures. For example, extra staff is deployed, including office staff.

Schiphol indicates on the website that Saturday will be a normal day. Sunday will be very busy again.

Although the daily number of travelers is still a lot lower than in the period before corona, the waiting times are almost as long. This is due to shortages of security guards at the airport, among other things. Some of the security guards found other work during the corona period. There is also a lot of sick leave at the moment.

During the May holidays, these shortages led to chaotic scenes and flights that were canceled or moved to another airport. At the start of that holiday, there was also a strike by KLM baggage handlers. That then led to the call to avoid the airport. The exits of the A4 motorway were also closed for some time.
