PSV trainer Roger Schmidt gave an update on Friday afternoon about the injuries of Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke, who dropped out on Thursday evening during the duel with AS Monaco. He assumes that Madueke will be sidelined for a number of weeks and will be missing at and against Ajax on Sunday. The young Briton has suffered a muscle injury and is undergoing an MRI scan on Friday.
Gakpo comes in with ankle complaints and also gets a scan to investigate the problems. Schmidt does not rule out the possibility that he will still play against the team from Amsterdam. Gakpo is the man in form and any absence would be a huge loss for PSV, which again has Ibrahim Sangaré in its ranks.
PSV trained on Friday morning to recover after the loss against AS Monaco and has two days less rest than Ajax for the top match in the national competition. “We’re not going to talk about that anymore. We have to make the best use of the time we have. Earlier this season we also had little time when we went to Ajax, because we had played against FC Midtjylland. Then we did a good job too.”
