The second sprint race in Formula 1 will be held on Saturday 11 September at the Monza circuit during the weekend of the Italian Grand Prix. At the famous Autodromo Nazionale, the fastest circuit on the F1 calendar with a length of 5,793 kilometers, the drivers in their cars will probably drive eighteen laps.
The first sprint race in Formula 1 history was won at Silverstone last Saturday by Max Verstappen. He took 3 points for the World Cup and also pole position for the Great Britain Grand Prix. In the GP race, Verstappen had to retire soon after being tapped by his British rival Lewis Hamilton and crashing hard.
A sprint race in Formula 1 covers 100 kilometers and lasts about 25 minutes to half an hour. “It was created to provide a short and fast racing spectacle, with drivers racing from start to finish without having to enter the pits,” said Formula 1.
The third and final sprint race of this season has not yet been officially awarded by the F1 organization. The Grand Prix of the Netherlands in Zandvoort is scheduled for the first weekend in September.
