Shell is talking to Lukoil about the sale of its Russian gas stations and a lubricant factory, Forbes business magazine reported. The oil and gas group confirms that there are talks about the sale of Shell Neft, as the Russian business unit is called, but not with which party.

Shell has more than 370 gas stations in 28 Russian cities. They have been put on hold for the time being pending a possible sale. Activities at the lubricant factory in Torzhok, northwest of Moscow, have also been suspended for the time being.

Oil and gas group Shell announced at the end of February that it would divest its activities in Russia due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This also includes investments in gas projects. Earlier this week, Shell announced that it would write off $3.9 billion, converted just under 3.7 billion euros, on its Russian assets. About 15 percent of this was for the gas stations.
