Svetlana Androsovych, sister of late camerawoman Halyna Hutchins, ‘can’t believe’ what happened to her sister. On Thursday, the camerawoman died when actor Alec Baldwin fired at her with a weapon that turned out to be loaded, on the set of the film Rust. “I was very proud of her and she was my role model,” she tells Kyiv Post.
“I loved her so much,” Androsovych continues. “We were close and always in touch, despite the distance between us.” Androsovych lives in Indonesia. The two sisters were born in Ukraine and their parents still live there. “I see how hard it is for our parents. Hopefully time will ease the pain.”
The weapon Baldwin used was a prop. It contained one real bullet. It also contained blanks, so that a popping sound comes from the weapon, but no bullet. This is more commonly used in movie shooting. No charges have been filed against Baldwin, the shooting of the film has been stopped for the time being.
