Tennis player Raonic also misses Wimbledon

12:26 pm: Canadian tennis player Milos Raonic is also missing from Wimbledon. The number 18 in the world still has physical problems, which previously prevented him from participating in Roland Garros. “I am extremely sad that I cannot compete in Wimbledon, which is the highlight of my schedule every year,” Raonic wrote on Instagram.

The 30-year-old Canadian, winner of eight ATP titles and the former number 3 in the world, last played in Miami at the end of March. Raonic was absent from Roland Garros due to an ankle injury. When he had almost recovered from that, he had to deal with a calf injury. “I’ve worked hard on the recovery, but I had a little setback, so I’m not ready for Wimbledon.”

The grand slam tournament on the ‘holy’ grass in London starts in just over a week. Raonic reached the final at Wimbledon in 2016, after beating Roger Federer. In the final battle, the Canadian lost to Scotsman Andy Murray.

Earlier, two other top tennis players withdrew from Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal and Naomi Osaka.

Frijns grabs next to points in Formula E, but remains leader

10.20 am: Driver Robin Frijns has seen his lead in the standings shrink in Formula E. The Dutchman finished in Puebla in Mexico, where the eighth of the fifteenth race of the season was held, only sixteenth. Frijns did not earn a single point with that.

The victory went to the Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi, ahead of the German René Rast and the Swiss Edoardo Mortara. German Pascal Wehrlein crossed the finish line first but, like his teammate André Lotterer, was disqualified due to an administrative error by his team. The Dutchman Nyck de Vries finished ninth.

Frijns now has a lead of 2 points on the number 2, the Portuguese Antonio Félix da Costa. De Vries is third on 3 points from Frijns. The ninth race is Sunday evening (Dutch time).

Milwaukee Bucks in NBA to Eastern Conference Finals

10.17 am: The Milwaukee Bucks basketball players have qualified for the Eastern Conference finals in the NBA North American basketball league. The seventh and decisive game at Brooklyn Nets ended after extra time in 115-111.

Star player Giannis Antetokounmpo took 40 points. At Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant even came to 48 points. Durant had forced extra time a second before the end of regulation time.

The Milwaukee Bucks last played in the Eastern Conference final two years ago. Then lost to later champion Toronto Raptors. This time, the Wisconsin team will face either Philadelphia or Atlanta. Both teams will also meet in the seventh and deciding game in the play-offs on Sunday-evening.

For Brooklyn, the elimination is a disappointment. With Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, the NBA title was the goal. Irving missed the last three games due to injury. Harden did not go further than 22 points on Saturday.
