While the garments are not listed for sale, McCartney plans to use the fabric in her upcoming collections. “I believe that the Stella community never has to compromise on luxury and sustainability. Mylo enables us to make that happen, ”explains the designer who is known for avoiding the use of leather, feathers and fur.
McCartney previously used Mylo for a prototype handbag, which was later shown in the exhibition Fashioned from Nature from the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Mylo is soft, resembles vegan leather and is made from mycelium, the network of all threads of a fungus. “Since the beginning of the development of our Mylo material, Stella has been instrumental in creating the material and helping it evolve into the high-quality learning alternative that it is today,” said Dan Widmaier, founder and chief executive officer of Bolt Threads.
