Eemshaven docking issues force HNL to move to Emden – Northern Times

Holland Norway Lines has found a solution to a problem that has plagued ferry services to Norway since the launch of RTV Noord last spring. reportThe company operates three days a week on the route between Eemshafen and Kristiansand in southern Norway. From mid-April, connections to Norway will first shift to Cuxhaven in Germany, with ferries departing from Emden from the beginning of June.

Emden is opposite Ems and can be seen from Emshafen on a clear day. It’s only about 20 kilometers from the ferry’s current mooring, Eemshafen, but driving to Emden requires a detour of over an hour.

HNL suffered severe reputational damage earlier this year due to frequent cancellations and communication about those cancellations. Criticism has subsided somewhat recently as many travelers seem to have found another way to travel to Norway.

The launch of a new ferry service is a far-reaching and important event, and the broadcaster believes the Groningen seaport (Eemshafen) is not fighting enough to keep it going.

The city of Groningen, which missed its chance to become the number one destination for mini-cruises, is probably the biggest loser here. Now all these tourists will probably travel to Emden, Bremen or Hamburg.
