A joint investigation by Dutch, British and Belgian customs authorities resulted in the seizure of 30 million cigarettes at the Breda industrial park and another 30 million at the port of Antwerp.

Five men, three from the Netherlands and two from Belgium, were arrested during a raid earlier this month. They have since been released from custody but remain suspects in the case.

If cigarettes had entered the Dutch market, the Ministry of Finance would have missed €14.6 million in taxes and duties, according to Treasury investigators. Officials did not disclose where the cigarette was headed.
