Robin Tafeling and Selena Piek concluded their mixed doubles performance at the Tokyo Olympics with a win. More than the honor was at stake, because the badminton duo had already been eliminated for a place in the quarterfinals after two defeats.
Tafeling and Piek (eighteenth in the world) owed it to their stands to beat Adham Hatem Elgamal and Doha Hany (52nd) and had the job done within nineteen minutes.
The Egyptian duo had only scored 25 points in total against the top players Zheng/Huang (Chi, 1) and Seo/Chae (ZKo) and there were a total of 13 against Tafeling and Piek: 21-9, 21-4.
