Ihattaren is missing on Saturday afternoon at Jong Ajax, which plays an away game with FC Volendam. He was present at the last training session of the first team for the cup final against PSV.
Trainer Erik ten Hag did not want to say at the press conference that he will take Ihattaren to De Kuip for the cup final. “But he’s getting fitter and his attitude is good,” he said. “You will see on Sunday”, said the Ajax coach on Friday.
John Heitinga declined to confirm the news about Ihattaren. “The first team is leading,” said the Jong Ajax trainer on Saturday at ESPN. “It is up to Erik ten Hag to announce his selection.”
The 20-year-old Ihattaren played a few duels with Jong Ajax last month. He plays football for the rest of the calendar year on a rental basis for the club from Amsterdam. After that, Ajax can definitively take him over from Juventus. Ihattaren went through the PSV youth academy for which he played 56 league matches in the first team. Partly due to a conflict with trainer Roger Schmidt, he left Eindhoven last summer. Juventus took him over and then stabled him at Sampdoria.
Ajax has been renting Ihattaren from Juventus since January. Besides Ihattaren, Enric Llansana is also allowed to join the first. The captain of Jong Ajax also plays against FC Volendam.
