The Netherlands and Belgium have jointly applied for the organization of the World Hockey Championships for both men and women in 2026. The Wagener stadium in Amstelveen and the renovated hockey stadium in the Belgian city of Wavre are the intended playing locations. South Africa has also indicated to the international hockey federation FIH that it would like to organize a double World Cup in four years.

The Netherlands will organize the World Cup for women together with Spain next month. The matches will be played in the Wagener stadium and in the Spanish city of Terrassa. This is where the denouement of the tournament will take place, with the semi-finals and final. The Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held in India early next year.

South Africa has indicated to the FIH that it not only wants to organize both World Cups in Potchefstroom, but also one of both. Australia and Uruguay have applied for the women’s World Cup, Germany for the men’s tournament. England and Wales also want to organize the World Cup for the hockey players together.

The FIH board will decide on November 3 where the 2026 World Cups will be held.
