5 podcast tips from Jochem Hamerling

1. Spectrum

Joris Voorn has been one of the Netherlands’ most important dance artists for years. The Saturday of ADE he is in the mighty gas holder. In his weekly podcast he shows many live sets that he has played recently. This series paints a perfect picture of today’s international house and techno sound.

2. Cover Podcast Series

If you really want to be surprised, this series by Dekmantel is the bomb. From gritty house to obscure Drum ‘n Bass and Reggae to seventies synthpop, everything passes. This is dance music in the broadest sense of the word.

3. The Machine

If it goes through, if it doesn’t go through, what is allowed, what is not allowed. Until a few weeks ago, no one knew whether ADE could continue this year and in what form. What kind of sentiment is going on behind the scenes and how are the organizers tackling all this? Atze de Vrieze and Niels Aalberts discuss it in the episode of September 28.

4. The Boom Room

It feels a bit crazy to recommend a podcast of my own here, but looking at the numbers I can’t really ignore it. Last year we were nominated for a gold radio ring, which is unique for a program that revolves around music. In The Boom Room every week we play everything that is relevant in the field of house and techno. Gijs Alkemade presents the program and his texts alone are worth seeing.

5. Days Like Nights Radio

A good DJ set is a story. If anyone can tell beautiful stories, it is Eelke Kleijn. I regularly discover gems in his sets that I later play in my radio shows. Subtle cinematic grooves that work on a dance floor but also in a hammock. Eelke plays the Saturday of ADE at the Mystic Garden Festival.
