These graphs help you better understand the corona wave

If you only look at the number of patients in the ICU, you could conclude that the situation there was more dire in the first half of this year than it is now. There are now 530 corona patients in intensive care. At the peak in April, there were 841. In total, together with non-corona patients, 943 ICU beds are now occupied. In April there were almost 1,300.

That is why ‘phase 2D’ was in effect all spring, the phase in which urgent, planable care was scaled down. It was requested again yesterday by the hospitals.

If you look at the graph below, you will see a difference: hospitals now have less room to absorb the corona wave than in the spring.

They have previously started canceling patients for less urgent care. In recent months, the number of regular patients in the ICU (the blue area) has already been reduced by a third, while in total fewer beds are still occupied than in the spring.
