Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs leads the final of the Conference League between Feyenoord and AS Roma. The match will take place on May 25 in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Kovacs is assisted by his compatriots Vasile Florin Marinescu and Mihai-Ovidiu Artene. Swiss Sandro Schärer is the fourth referee in Tirana and Marco Fritz is the video referee.
The Romanian has been an international referee since 2010 and has refereed ten European matches this season, including the first semi-final in the Champions League between Manchester City and Real Madrid. Kovacs led the match between the Netherlands and North Macedonia at the European Championships last year. That ended in 3-0 for the Orange.
French referee Clément Turpin has been appointed by UEFA to referee the Champions League final. It will be the first time for 39-year-old Turpin that he is in charge of the final battle of the most important club tournament in Europe.
The final will be played on Saturday 28 May between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the Stade de France in Paris.
Last year, Turpin refereed the Europa League final between Villarreal and Manchester United. This season he was, among other things, the referee in the game in the quarter-finals of the Champions League between Chelsea and Real Madrid. He also led Ajax against Valencia in Amsterdam.
Pol van Boekel has been designated as VAR for the Europa League final on May 18. That goes between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers FC, where Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a trainer. Slavko Vincic from Slovenia is the guide.
