Pride comes to Groningen this weekend – The Northern Times

On Friday and Saturday, Groningen’s annual Pride celebration comes to town. Filled with activities throughout the city, the program promises to be diverse, educational, but most of all a fun time for all who attend.

Organized by Pride Groningen, there is a plethora of events that people can join. Whether you are at the Groningen Museum, the A-Kerk, or the Forum, you can make sure to enjoy this year’s Pride with an array of activities that cater to everyone’s tastes.

The street parade you do not want to miss

Along with all the fun and engaging pastimes that can be found throughout Groningen, the main event of the two-day festivities comes in the shape of the Pride street parade.

The street parade will be held on Saturday on Zwanestraat. It is hosted in collaboration with Café de Prins, one of Groningen’s last gay cafes, along with shopkeepers on the street. The plan is to give the shopping avenue a complete makeover and bring a number of performers for everyone to enjoy.

This year’s parade promises to be like no other with the addition of an extra stage, allowing diverse music tastes to merge as well as making the city feel like they are partying along.
