Vishal Garg held a video meeting with 900 employees. They were told that they would be fired immediately. “If you’re in this group call, you’re in the unfortunate group of people who have to leave,” Garg said. The entire announcement was put on YouTube and widely shared.

The CEO of Better.com also claimed in an interview with the American business magazine fortune that he finds his homeworkers ‘lazy’ and ‘unproductive’.

After all the fuss, Garg apologizes in a letter for the way he communicated the mass layoff. “I have not shown the proper respect and appreciation for those affected by this,” Garg wrote.

He does not regret the dismissal itself, because there is no escaping it. But Garg admits that he ‘bludged’ in the way. “I embarrassed you because of that. I am deeply sorry and I am determined to learn from this situation.”
