Tuesday ‘only’ 1,779 positive tests were reported to the RIVM

Winter weather

This brings the total number to 1,009,725. The number of days is significantly below the daily average of the past week. This may be due to the fact that the number of tests taken, especially in the past weekend, fell sharply because of the winter weather and because GGD test locations were also closed as a result.

550 COVID patients in the ICU, 1460 in the clinic; no displacements

The total number of COVID patients admitted in the Netherlands is 2010, 24 less than the previous day. Of these, 550 are in the ICU, an increase of 8 patients and 1460 in the clinic, 32 patients less than yesterday. Yesterday again, no supraregional journeys with the use of the LCPS were realized due to the situation on the road. Moves have resumed today.

New recordings

Today, 146 new COVID patients have been admitted to Dutch hospitals, the same number as the previous day. Of these, 26 were admitted to the ICU, the same number as yesterday and 120 in the clinic, as many as yesterday. On average, there are fewer new admissions in the ICU and in the clinic than last week.

Occupation Intensive Care Unit

The total occupancy has increased by 8 to 1005 beds. There are now 550 COVID patients in the ICU, 8 more than yesterday and 455 non-COVID patients, the same number as yesterday. COVID occupancy in the IC follows a downward trend, but remains high. As a result, there are more COVID than non-COVID patients.

Clinic occupation

The total occupancy has increased by 591 to 13,527 beds. The clinic now contains 1,460 COVID patients, 32 fewer than yesterday. COVID occupancy in the clinic is quite stable with a slowly decreasing trend.

Interpretation of the current situation

The average number of admissions has fallen in the past week. The occupancy also follows a predominantly downward trend. Whether this will continue is uncertain, due to the British corona variant.
