Two Belgian cyclists were injured in Bavel in Brabant, because they may have been hit deliberately. The motorist drove on, a police spokesperson confirmed to a report in Brabant media.
The accident happened around 09:30 on Gilzeweg on Sunday, when a group of sixteen Belgian cyclists rode on the road instead of the adjacent cycle path. According to the police, this probably irritated the motorist, after which he honked violently as the group passed. When turning back to the right, the driver may have hit the two cyclists, the spokesman said. According to him, it remains to be seen whether they were actually hit.
A 72-year-old man was taken to hospital with a fracture, scrapes and bruises. The other cyclist suffered minor injuries.
Police are looking for the driver of the car, a black Volkswagen Up.
