In Huizen (North Holland) two homes have been closed for ten days by order of the mayor because of fears for the safety of residents and local residents. Heavily armed officers guard the area, the municipality reports.
It is unclear why the homes were evacuated. The police refers to the municipality. Mayor Meijer van Huizen says that there is a serious threat, but that he does not know any details.
Immediate danger to safety
According to the municipality, the signals received by the police and the judiciary are such that there is an “immediate danger of disruption of public order and safety”.
“I am assured that keeping the homes open can pose a danger to residents and local residents,” Meijer said in a statement. “That is enough for me to proceed to provisional closure.”
The residents of the two houses have found shelter elsewhere. Local residents have been informed by the municipality.
