Anna van der Breggen has won the Grand Prix of Eibar. The SD Worx rider arrived solo on the Usartza after almost 120 kilometers through the Basque Country. Annemiek van Vleuten finished second.
Along the way, the peloton faced two tough climbs. Still, the foot of the nearly 6 kilometer long final climb, with a gradient of nine percent, was reached by a large group.
In the front, three women were soon left; Annemiek van Vleuten, Elisa Longo Borghini and Van der Breggen. Van Vleuten took the lead, but was unable to release the other two.
The leader of Movistar attacked three kilometers from the finish, but Van der Breggen parried her attack. The world champion then drove away himself and crossed the finish line solo.
