The hotel has 61 rooms, a restaurant, a café and four function rooms. A fourth-generation member of the hotel family, Derk Langebeek (26), will lead the hotel. He is one of the three sons of Tjomme Langebeek and Corry van der Valk. A special detail is that their grandmother Corry van der Valk-de Wit was born and raised on Texel.

Tjomme and Corry see “a dream come true” with a Van der Valk Hotel on Texel, they say. Their son Sjoerd (28) has taken over the helm at Van der Valk Hotel Drachten. In Van der Valk Hotel Groningen-Hoogkerk, son Stijn (30) has been in charge since construction.

The family has announced that they will be adapting the new hotel on Texel to the typical Van der Valk standards in the near future.

Fourth generation

At the hotel group, the fourth generation of Valk members has now taken over from the third generation. The fifth generation is already participating in a number of hotels. The concern was created in 1939, when Martien van der Valk converted a liquor store in Voorschoten into a hotel. Later the hotel conglomerate came under the leadership of his sons Arie and Gerrit.

The current owner of hotel De Pelikaan on Texel, Rob Vos, will continue to rent out De Pelikaan Vacation Rentals and De Pelikaan Catering.
