Wake-up service 25/9: Adjusted corona rules go into effect • Protest in The Hague

Are you hitting the road? Here you will find an overview of the files and activities. Check the rail timetable here.

What can you expect today?

  • The adjusted corona rules are coming into effect. This means, among other things, that everyone from the age of 13 must show a corona admission ticket from today in order to be allowed into catering establishments, at an art or cultural institution or to attend (sports) events. Here is an overview of all measures.
  • Opponents of the admission ticket demonstrate in The Hague. They walk from Malieveld to Plein 1813 and back.
  • At the World Cycling Championships in Belgium, the women compete in the road race. Reigning world champion Anna van der Breggen drives her very last race as a professional. The race can be viewed live from 2 p.m. on NOS.nl, in the NOS app and on NPO 1.

What did you miss?

The Dutch police completely takes over the name Amber Alert in the Netherlands. Outgoing minister Grapperhaus has announced this in a letter to the House of Representatives.

The police will have the exclusive right to use the names Amber Alert and Missing Kind Alert in the Netherlands for an indefinite period of time. The internet domains, social media accounts and logos also come into the hands of the police.

People who follow Amber Alert will continue to receive notifications as a result. “We are pleased that the police and the minister are continuing to pursue Amber Alert and would like to congratulate them,” said Amber Alert founder Frank Hoen. He would not say whether money was paid for the use of the name and logos.

In April, the police announced that they would stop using Amber Alert and start using their own Burgernet system in the event of missing children. That was stopped by the House of Representatives under the leadership of JA21 leader Joost Eerdmans, who asked for a “warm agreement”. There were mainly concerns that the disappearance of the name would have a negative effect on the number of investigations.

Other news from the night:

And then this:

Unvaccinated Dutch people will have to be tested from today if they want to go to the pub, for example. That is not always easy everywhere.
