Waku Waku returns in autumn, with Sosha Duysker and monkeys | show
The popular nature quiz Waku Waku returns to Dutch television in October. KRO-NCRV announced this today. Familiar elements, such as the celebrities who play for a good cause and the plush monkeys, return. The presentation will now be in the hands of Sosha Duysker.
Producer Concept Street already announced last year that a restart of the popular NPO quiz was being considered. In 2019, the company bought the rights to the show. Waku Waku was a Japanese program that was brought to the Netherlands by the KRO in the late eighties. Until 2001, the KRO made fourteen seasons of the show, which 2 million people watched almost every week.
The presentation was in the hands of Rob Fruithof. The former NPO celebrity recently announced that he was no longer interested in presenting Waku Waku† he is currently focusing on a career as an actor. Later on, Sybrand Niessen and Paula Udondek briefly took over, but with less success.
The first edition of Waku Waku new style can be seen on NPO Zapp on 17 October.
Also listen to the AD Media Podcast. With a look back at the TV season, kudos to Renze Klamer and Rob Kemps’ new presentation job.
