The last day and New Year’s Day of 2022 were the warmest on record, and the first week of January was also unseasonably warm for this time of year, forecasters said.
The temperature ranges from 10 to 14 degrees Celsius, twice as hot as in normal January, and there is almost no temperature difference between day and night.
The phenomenon is not confined to the Netherlands, as record temperatures are being recorded across Europe thanks to warm southwesterly winds.
