It was another evening full of European football yesterday. No fewer than 4 Dutch teams played in the Conference League. Some clubs did well, others less so.
The evening was a great success for Feyenoord. The men won 5-2 against Partizan Belgrade. Jens Toornstra scored two goals. The other goals were from Dessers, Geertruida and Sinisterra. The teams will play against each other again next week. Then at home in De Kuip.
A big disappointment for AZ. The team played against the Norwegian FK Bodø/Glimt. They were tied for a long time, but in injury time FK Bodø/Glimt was wrongly awarded a penalty. That went in, and AZ went home with a 2-1 loss.
And the evening did not go as hoped for Vitesse either. The Arnhem team therefore had a strong opponent: AS Roma. On a bad and bumpy lawn it was 1-0 for AS Roma. Patricio had to leave the field in the second half after a second yellow card. There were plenty of opportunities, but Vitesse was unable to score. The teams will play each other again next week.
And finally PSV, which played against FC Copenhagen. PSV played sloppy in the first half and as a result, Copenhagen quickly scored goals. The game then went back and forth and the teams were evenly matched. This is also reflected in the striking final result: 4-4.
