Borussia Dortmund have had an excellent start to the new Champions League season. The Germans won their opening game 1-2 at Besiktas thanks to their two super talents Jude Bellingham and Erling Braut Haaland.
It can always be haunted in the Turkish cauldron and also in that of Besiktas the audience sang the home team forward for ninety minutes. But Dortmund proved to be able to withstand the hurricane of sound that descended on the pitch. Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for the visitors after twenty minutes of play. The talented midfielder scored from a difficult angle: 0-1.
Dortmund started and got two great chances via Erling Braut Haaland, but the Norwegian striker was not quite ready yet, so he pinned a cross from Donyell Malen high over the Turkish goal. But Haaland wouldn’t be Haaland if he still scored. In the injury time of the first half, the attacker scored on Bellingham’s pass: 0-2.
In the second half Dortmund seemed to slow down, as if it had already been satisfied with this score. The visitors didn’t get any great chances. The home team chased the connecting goal and had the opportunities for it, but the strikers in Turkish service failed to score. Until stoppage time. A perfectly adapted free kick by Miralem Pjanic landed on Francisco Montero’s head, who nodded well: 1-2.
But his connecting goal fell too late for Besiktas. For example, Dortmund, where Malen was substituted after seventy minutes, made no mistake and experienced an excellent start to a new Champions League season in Ajax’s group.
