Travel companies are counting the days when the world shuts down. For over a year and a half they have been able to carry out little or no trips abroad. Most of the world – outside of Europe – is still set to ‘orange’, meaning don’t travel unless necessary. Earlier this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it wanted to adjust the color codes, but there is no date or concrete plan yet.
A growing group of 27 travel organizations is tired of waiting and wants the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to introduce a yellow travel advice worldwide for vaccinated travelers by September 25 at the latest, so that they can get back on the road. If not, the club will go to court. “You are safe with a vaccination, even if a country has a lot of infections. That is why we say: ‘Make long journeys possible for people who have been vaccinated’”, says Joshua van Eijndhoven of Voya Travel on behalf of the angry travel organizations.
