Barcelona is creeping up the La Liga rankings under new coach Xavi. A visit to Villarreal was won with the necessary fortune, partly due to goals from Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay (1-3).
The latter was the celebrated man, by giving Barcelona the lead just before time against the ratio. Philippe Coutinho then scored another penalty.
Villarreal passionately chased the victory with Orange international Arnaut Danjuma, with a great chance every few minutes in the final phase. Danjuma also got one himself, but after a nice cut inwards his shot went just wide.
Depay almost top scorer
Depay also had a miss to his name in the first half, but more than made up for it by reacting alertly to a passed ball. By skilfully dribbling past the keeper and aiming the ball through the legs of a falling defender, the striker is now second on Spain’s top scorers list with eight goals.
