You can help the bar survive the coronavirus by drinking 223 bottles of beer

Last year was tough for businesses across the Netherlands, but if you want to play your part and help local bars and restaurants survive the coronavirus crisis, new research has to be done. I found exactly that: Drink 223 beer.

Support for the Dutch hospitality industry during the coronavirus

Everyone has a local-where they like to go out for coffee and work, or where to meet friends for a few drinks and some on a sunny afternoon Bitterballen.. But perhaps you are worried about the future of local bars and restaurants and wondering how they can help them climb from the potentially deadly effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. I have.

Well, don’t worry anymore! ABN Amro has done some research on what can be done to pull the Dutch hospitality industry away from debt. According to their figures, about 16.000 companies in the Netherlands have debts worth about € 934 million. To cancel this debt, the general public can drink 223 and 4 bottles of beer, respectively.

“Can you give me 223 bottles of beer?”

The Dutch bank calculated the total based on the tax obligations of the Dutch food service industry. “For convenience, if you consider a beer worth 3 euros, you can assume that you will have a profit of 0.30 euros. Dividing 934 million by 30 cents gives you 3,143,333,333.33 beer,” said Oskar Barendse, a financial expert at Knab. Mr. explains.

According to the Dutch Statistics Office (CBS), there are 14,070,340 people of legal drinking age in the Netherlands. Therefore, dividing 3,143,333,333.33 beer by 14,070,340 people gives 223.4 beers per person.
