From now on you can use WhatsApp on multiple devices, without having to pair your phone. For that you still have to participate in the test version; we explain how to do that.
With this new functionality, you can use WhatsApp on up to five devices simultaneously. So you are more easily accessible to friends, family and colleagues. But give yourself some rest, especially when it comes to work contacts.
WhatsApp on multiple devices
Using WhatsApp on your computer or tablet has been possible for a long time, but the way in which it was used was not yet very user-friendly. For example, you had to have your smartphone nearby, the device had to be turned on and connected to the internet. You could also not log on to two computers at the same time. That is now changing: a beta version has been rolled out that now allows you to use the chat service on four devices other than your phone. These cannot be other phones, but they can be computers or tablets.
With this new functionality, you only need to connect to WhatsApp once on another device using a QR code. After this, you can use the chat service indefinitely without needing your phone. Handy if your phone is empty, but you have to send an important message.
Set up the feature on your phone
WhatsApp is currently still in the testing phase for this option. However, anyone can participate in the test and already use the new function. You do this by going to ‘settings’, and then under ‘paired devices’ clicking on ‘Multi-device beta’. You can always turn off the test version later. However, the makers warn that certain functionalities cannot yet work optimally, because it is a test version. Some features are not yet supported, such as accepting group invites. This new feature on Whatsapp is good for your peace of mind and your phone’s memory
