What is state?

Provinciale Staten (PS) is the highest authority in the Dutch provinces. Together with the Gedeputeerde Staten (state executive branch) board, they are responsible for managing state affairs. What is a water board?

Who Can Vote?
Anyone can vote for their own water authority: EU and non-EU citizens alike. Just register inside. basic registrant (This will give you the BSN number). Only Dutch citizens can vote in state-level elections.

What is your challenge this year?
The Netherlands is a representative democracy with dozens of political parties representing different points of view, but many of the issues political parties raise on their platforms are binary: which is more important or which is more important. Nature or farm? Current resident or asylum seeker? Public transport or car?
Below are the themes on which political parties have indicated their stance on the voting compass, along with examples of specific issues affecting the North.

Where can I vote?

Why should I vote?
As far as the states are concerned, these representatives are not only responsible for local affairs, but they also help determine who is elected to the Dutch lower house (Eerste Kamer, Senate).
