About Us

Netherlands News Live is an English-language news publication covering the Netherlands for the people who live, work, and build their lives here — Dutch residents, expats, international students, and anyone who needs Netherlands news without relying on a translator.

We started this publication because most Dutch news is written for a Dutch-speaking audience, and most international outlets only cover the Netherlands when something makes global headlines. Everything in between — a change to visa rules, a new housing regulation, a KNMI weather warning, a shift in the Eredivisie table — often goes unreported in English. We fill that gap.

What we cover

We report on six areas, chosen because they’re what our readers actually search for and rely on day to day:

  • Netherlands News — national politics, government decisions, and breaking headlines
  • Economy & Business — the Dutch economy, housing market, taxes, and major employers
  • Expat & Living in NL — visas, DigiD, healthcare, housing, and integration guidance
  • Weather & Traffic — daily KNMI alerts, NS disruptions, and road conditions
  • Crime & Safety — police reports and court outcomes, reported responsibly
  • Sports — Eredivisie football, the Dutch national team, and Dutch athletes abroad

Our editorial approach

Every article published on Netherlands News Live is written or edited by a named member of our editorial team and reviewed for accuracy before it goes live. Where we report on developing stories, we update articles as new information becomes available and note significant corrections at the bottom of the piece. If we get something wrong, we fix it — see our correction and feedback process under Contact Us.

Who we are

Netherlands News Live is run by a small team of writers and editors based in the Netherlands, each covering the topics closest to their expertise — Dutch politics and economy, expat and immigration matters, weather and transport, and sport. Every article is written or reviewed by a named editor before publication, and we credit contributors individually rather than under a single shared byline. Our team follows a simple standard: report accurately, cite official sources (government bodies, KNMI, NS, police statements) wherever possible, and correct mistakes quickly and visibly when they happen. We’re readers of this news ourselves, which keeps us focused on what’s actually useful to know.
