Five companies fined €26 million for offering online gambling without a license
Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit 5 gambling companies fined €26 million for illegally operating in the Netherlands.
The fines range from €900,000 to €12 million and are based on an estimate of the company’s earnings from its operations in the Netherlands. All five are based in Malta.
Regulators say the biggest fine was levied on N1 Interactive as it was not a first offense. Videoslots was told to pay almost 10 million euros for having the regulator’s logo on its website.
Online gambling will be legal in the Netherlands in October 2021. A total of 24 companies are now licensed to cover punters in the Netherlands.
