Number of coronavirus patients in hospital rises to over 800

After a period of relative calm, the number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals is rising again. The hospital is currently treating 813 people who have tested positive for coronavirus. This is her highest number since October 26th, just over two months ago.

Just a week ago, 632 people were hospitalized with the coronavirus, according to the Patient Coordination Service LCPS. This translates to 181 more hospital admissions than discharges in one week. Additionally, total occupancy increased by 111 in his one-day period alone, which ends Tuesday afternoon. However, the LCPS figures do not distinguish between those hospitalized for symptoms of Covid-19 and those who were later found to be infected with other health problems.

Additionally, the hospital recently admitted 146 new patients with Covid-19. On average, nearly 133 people were hospitalized with coronavirus per day in the last seven days for which data were available. This is the highest average inflow since late October. However, it is not updated on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

In general, an increase in hospitalizations accompanies an increase in infections. Not only are more of his Covid-19 cases being detected at official GGD service testing sites, but wastewater analyzes show more coronavirus particles than there were weeks ago.

More and more people are reporting positive self-tests for coronavirus on a special platform at the National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM). RIVM does not yet have an explanation for the increase and we do not yet know if this is the beginning of the new coronavirus wave.
