Flags were raised at the British Embassy and Ambassador’s Residence in The Hague to celebrate King Charles III’s decree.
The new King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Head of the Commonwealth of Nations was formally proclaimed at a meeting of the Councils of Accession held at St James’s Palace in London. He has been king since Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, died Thursday afternoon.

Flags will again be lowered to half-mast on Sunday to honor the national mourning period for the late Queen, according to a statement from the British Embassy in The Hague.
