Three injured, including suspect, in stabbing at home in Amsterdam North
Three people were found wounded in a stabbing at an apartment in Amsterdam’s north district on Tuesday morning. Police confirmed to the NL Times that a man, one of the injured, was arrested at the scene.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Chalkus Street and was described by a spokesperson as a “fight between relatives.” The two victims were taken to a local hospital, but their symptoms did not improve immediately.
The suspect was treated at the scene but suffered minor injuries. He was then taken into custody and taken to the police station for questioning shortly after the incident.
At least three ambulances were dispatched to the scene soon after paramedics were called to the stabbing. A trauma team was also dispatched by helicopter 20 minutes after the incident.
The motive is still under investigation as of 10 a.m., police said. However, because it is believed to be a case of domestic violence, police are “reluctant to release any further information publicly,” the spokesperson said.
