Trains canceled nationwide on Friday
Last night, NS announced that there will be no NS trains running on Friday, September 9th. The railway workers’ union has already declared a regional strike on Friday, but although the strike is regional, the areas affected are larger as trains and staff operate across the Netherlands.
Looking at all options and experience of previous strike days, NS said there was no possibility of operating the timetable in a responsible, reliable and safe manner.
More strikes next week
The union also announced strikes for Tuesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 15th. On Tuesday, September 13th, several larger regions will again be covered, and on Thursday, September 15th, action is planned in central Holland, the heart of the rail network. The recent NS also expects regional strikes to have a significant impact on NS train traffic across the Netherlands.
Schiphol and International
NS is investigating the impact of industrial action on travelers to and from Schiphol and on international trains passing through the Netherlands. More information on this will be announced as soon as possible.
They advise travelers to consult their website’s travel planners just before departure. Information will be updated tomorrow morning.
