Video: Severe fire in Amsterdam apartment complex on Sunday
On Sunday morning, firefighters were busy trying to extinguish the blaze at the Voetbalstraat residential complex in Amsterdam’s Nieuw West. has risen.

“The fire is not yet under control,” the fire department said more than an hour after the fire broke out. “The housing complex has been completely evacuated.”
These apartments are part of a housing center called Startblok Riekerhaven, a 565-unit social housing project primarily for young people, including Dutch-born youths and recently qualified refugees.
It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries, but records show that a medical trauma team was dispatched to the scene by helicopter. In addition to firefighters, police and paramedics were also deployed to the area.

First responders raised the alarm to “Very Large Fire” by 8:45 am and declared a Grip 1 emergency. This protocol will bring more personnel to the scene and consolidate all emergency services workers under a single Incident Commander.
Large clouds of black smoke from the fire were visible, even by people far away from the scene. The Amsterdam Fire Department said: ‘Close windows and doors and turn off ventilation systems.
