Roadworks: Elandstraat and Elandbrug closed for one year from 9 January

The start of the new year also marks the beginning of a new phase of Zeeheldenkwartier road construction. One project is now halfway through, while another is in the final stages. The main traffic change is the closure of Eland Street and Elandburg from January 9th until the end of the year. This means that through traffic cannot use his Mauritskade-Elandstraat route.

In Zeeheldenkwartier, gemeente is doing various road works. Around Piet Heinplein, Anna Paulownabrug, Elandbrug and Quay walls will be replaced. The square will have a new layout and the utility company will start work on district heating and drinking water pipes through the Anna Paulona Bridge.

gemeente is also working on Tram 17 (formerly Tram 16) tracks and stops. The quays and the Hemsterhuis Bridge will also be renewed. There are diversions to maintain access to shops and streets.

Redevelopment of Piet Heinplein
From Monday 9th January 2023 Erandburg will be closed. This work he plans to continue until December 2023. As a result, traffic will not be able to reach Eland Street from Mauritskade. A detour is possible via Laan van Meerdervoort.

The Anna Paulona Bridge will also be closed to traffic until June 2023.

tram line 17
Construction of tram line 17 is in its final stages. From Monday 9 January 2023, work will start at the intersection of Elandstraat and Vondelstraat, Elandstraat will be closed at the end of he January and half of the roundabout will remain open at Prins Hendrikplein at all times. Work he plans to continue until mid-April 2023.
