The Netherlands is nearing the end of its monkeypox outbreak and will also conduct a vaccination campaign. Calm down in no time Public health agency RIVM confirmed.
Those considered most at risk will be vaccinated until the end of the month, “but the number of new infections has been very low for several weeks and the campaign has been halted.”
Only nine people have been diagnosed with the virus in the past two weeks, after the number of cases peaked in the summer.
Nevertheless, the virus continues to circulate and people still need to be aware of the risks, RIVM said.
A panel of experts will convene in November to consider whether vaccination or other measures may be necessary in the future.
